A Sword for Geeks

I am sitting here reading Tremper Longman's NICOT commentary on Ecclesiastes with my new favorite toy.  A friend of mine put me onto "flags" to get me out of a habit of abusing books, folding down corners etc.  So I fumbled with Highlighter, pen, and flags as I did some reading.  Well, chalk one up for convergence, as I have found a very cool tool for my reading.  The 3M Highlighter that has a refillable flag resevoir!  Oh yes, flags and yellow ink may now fly furiously together.

To quote Ecclesiasters, "Of the making of many books there is no end."  Yet, thank God I have a tool like this to read some of the good ones out there.  Now I just need a pen/highlighter/flag - with both highlighter and flags refillable...naw, that would make me spoiled.

For all the geeks who love their highlighters - in the car, on the bedside table, in the office, and everywhere in between.

That's funny because I'm trying to get into the habit of "abusing" my books. =)

Really, I'm just starting to mark them up. Up until now I've viewed them as collectables and therefore they should be kept pristine -- no dogeared pages, no marks, I even went so far as to try to keep the spine looking like it was still on the shelf at Borders. But no longer. I have seen the light!

You have seen the High-light!

I stumble onto your blog once a month or so to get some good Reid Monaghan insight, and what a good day to do so... My roommate gave me a 3M Post-It highlighter several months ago, and don't think I've left home to read or work without it. Thanks for mentioning the refillable characteristic. It was one of the only writing utensils I own that I haven't taken apart; I was afraid of breaking it to see if I could refill the flags. After reading the blog, I immediately pulled mine apart, and now I can abandon my close-to-miserly flag conservation habit. :o) I hope you, Kasey and the girls are doing well!

Erin, be not ashamed and let the flags fly! Good to hear from you. You can order the refills on Office Depots web site :)
