Dream a New Dream about Sex

This past Thursday night we taught a message with Inversion entitled Dream a New Dream about Sex.  It was a great night.  I owe a great debt to God, His Word, and the book Sex and the Supremacy of Christ for shaping and reshaping my thoughts on this issue.

Highly recommend the Bible on Sex - Justin Taylor's intro to Sex and the Supremacy and Pipers first two chapters are a great roadmap into its depths.

great talk Reid! it encouraged me, if that is any encouragement to you. i believe you're right that we (Christians) must alter our approach to sex, that is, teach and admonish Christians about sex as part of the Christian identity, and not the "don't have sex cuz you might get an STD" line. linking it to our identity will help in times of temptation, but a bunch of cliches and one liners won't help anyone. doesn't help me, for one. but it's not been easy being a 26 (almost) year old single virgin guy. in my flesh, i sometimes think that God has checked out on the relationship part of my life. it's like He said "remain pure, but don't bother asking for help or for a wife". i know it's false thinking, but i've been guilty of false thinking before. the counter thought i have is that i want some recognition for this investment i'm making. purity is an investment, and it's one that is expected in our Christian environment. when we fail....*gasp*!!! how could such and such fail?!?! so yes, more encouragement is needed within our circles, in my opinion. anyways, good stuff, sorry for being so verbose, and now back to one's regularly scheduled program.

Ben, thanks for the post. I feel you brother and was encouraged by your honesty and struggle. Ask for a wife, seek satisfaction in Christ. Your investment is worth it brother and when/if you ever stumble, don't pity, dispair, our beat down yourself...get up and look to Jesus. And fill your life with competing affections. A soul filled with good stuff pushes out the junk.

Appreciate you man
Reid
