Several years ago when my wife and I were training for the mission field, we heard about how France would be under Shariah law by 2025. Sounds like that's certainly possible with the current trend.

Sad state of affairs. It is amazing how Europe taught, preached, fought, to stave of Islam from 1000-1400s and now is rolling out the red carpet and is so weakened that it may not be able to sustain it own culture.

For a long time I've been following the demographics in Europe and been startled by the trends, but here is a really good article arguing against what it calls the "Eurabia Myth"

What do you think?

Wesley,
I read the blog post you sent. I understand what he is saying - the problem is the worldview on the continent is different than it was even pre WWII. I can see what he is saying happening - but the scenario is extremely tragic. If the hope of Europe withstanding Islamization is to be a mass ethnic cleansing by aging Europeans this is not going to be good.
The problem I see is that Europeans are loosing their national identities which have been around for close to a thousand years. The vision of one Europe eradicates the making of distinctions - which is why the secular elite of Europe want to sing the praises of "moderate" Islam (wherever that exists). The only place Islam is moderate is in wealthy western states where they are given freedom and influence as a minority. Islam is a total life consuming worldview which has its own view of government, law (Sharia), and the role of the state and religion. It is incompatible to Western ideas such as separating church and state.
Either situation in Europe - Islamization or knee church violence by indigenous Europeans is not a pretty situation. So I remain a bit pessimistic for the continent - save a revival of the gospel of Jesus Christ and his church in those lands. I pray for this.

Agreed, the future does not look very happy in either event and I hope my comment didn't come off as, "Hey, don't worry about Europe; this article says they'll be fine." The conjecture in the article is just as startling if not more so than the continuing progression of current trends.
And yes, as always, Christ is the answer. I pray through the first few verses of Isaiah Ch. 2 frequently when I think about the future of the world.

For quite some time now and in various fora, I've been saying that the solution to the problem of Eurabia (and that of illegal immigration to the USA) is "reverse migration". Shiploads of South Americans to Spain and Portugal (and from there to the rest of Europe).
