Reid, Sorry I missed your call last night. I hope the vacation is going well. Hey what's up with all these Apple posts you do? When are you going to convert brother? ;-) Hey we do need to catch up soon.

Wasn't Michael Vick highlighted on an AIA pamphlet when you were at VT? He seems kinda pompous and unrepentant to me. I could be wrong. Nweg
In short, Mike was never a part of anything we published publicly or even privately in our newsletters. Nor did he ever speak on behalf of Jesus or VT AIA. We were asked to have him do so many times and I declined. I was always overly cautious as to who we put in front of people...for this reason.
I did know him personally though and spent some significant time with him at VT. He prayed a prayer with me, began some basic Bible stuff, he started the "pointing upwards" after touchdowns around this time. During this time the attention he started to receive went through the roof and he became very busy. We lost touch after he left VT that next year. Mike had no background in the Bible but was very open. I like Mike (not what he has done or what he stands for) and pray for him that he comes to repentance and truly to follow Christ. Tens of millions of dollars and a 20 year old are not a good formula for success. Who knows where that dude is heading...
What we are witnessing here with Reid is very similar to that of a disillusioned Protestant who is considering the RC Church. First, one starts to consider the depth of their own misunderstanding of "the other side". Secondly, one starts to read the literature (books, websites, etc) and listen to talks (the Mac expo, etc) to learn the new and exciting culture. And thirdly, the prospect starts to confess his sins and then converts.
We are witnessing the public confession and journey of Jedi Master Reid to the "dark side".
:-)
But seriously, I was at VT while Vick was there; we both started college Fall '98 (that's 1998 - you know, the 20th century). I think there is a little bit of tension here because Vick took us to the near promised land. He was like Moses - he took us there but wasn't allowed to cross the Jordan. Now that all this stuff has happened, many VT fans are seemingly washing their hands of Mr. Vick. I'm not accusing Reid of this by any means. Just an observation of the fan base at large.
Ben, I write about RC conversions as well. Am I destined to use Macs AND become a Papist? Who knows the decrees of our God...I hope my next machine runs Vista and my theology rooted in historic Christian faith shaped by Protestantism :)
As to Vick - I would have him in my home tomorrow. I have hesitated in sharing details for years, but I spent significant time with him one on one. I hope he becomes a follower of Jesus. God save him from the PETA folks as well.
