Reid I think you need to finally admit that you are a closet Mac fan, if not that then you should at least admit that you need Mac as your archenemy.
Kind of like the Ninja Turtles needed Shredder and the Autobots needed the Decipticons. Without a good villain their heroic antics are too easily achieved and boring.
Mac at least gives you something powerful to fight.
Naw, I am out of the closet. My family has a nano in the kitchen and I have an iPod video. I received gift cards from best buy last year for Christmas and had nothing I wanted or needed. So I bought my wife one of the new shuffles to jog with. We have our music, podcasts etc. married to this propriety system called "itunes" - I am not a hater.
I do hat Macidolaters though - they are too religious for me. Plus, one of my hobbies is computer stuff...and Apple has done a lot of consumer stuff. Plus, Mac people are always defensive, love to put down everyone elses stuff, etc. So I like picking on them.
But actually I am a fanboy in many ways - the nemesis for me in the computer world? I like all of it.
Open theists, universalism/gospel denying Christians - maybe I have a nemesis complex there :)
Good to know where you stand. Pardon me for the incorrect assessment.
I know what you're talking about with the Macidolaters though... they're just scary. Mac makes my life easier than PC ever did, but I know some people that have almost sold their soul to Mac (I wish I could say I was joking) whereas PC people tend to sell their souls to gaming, hacking, "instant messaging" in general rather than whole corporations. I wonder why this is...
Idolatry is taking a good thing and making it a God thing. Taking a good desire and exalting it above the place which it should be.
With that said. Macs are really good things...as are iPods, iPhones, iLife, etc. So the temptation for Mac worship is there. PCs, well, they are not that cool. They work great, lots of stuff you can do on them, tons of software etc. So what is cool is what you can do with them. For example gaming, hacking, IM, Logos Libronix, etc.
I will tell you that I saw a cool family PC in CompUSA the other day and Dell just put out a smoking laptop. Not worshiping though.
