#2 Religions that their parents don’t belong to:
White people will often say they are “spiritual” but not religious. Which usually means that they will believe any religion that doesn’t involve Jesus. Popular choices include Buddhism, Hinduism, Kabbalah and, to a lesser extent, Scientology. A few even dip into Islam, but it’s much more rare since you have to give stuff up and actually go to Mosque. Mostly they are into religion that fits really well into their homes or wardrobe and doesn’t require them to do very much.
#40 - Apple Products
It is surprising that it took all the way to #40 to call out Apple products. Initially, we were planning for an entire week on Apple products, but that would just be over kill. Plain and simple, white people don’t just like Apple, they love and need Apple to operate. On the surface, you would ask yourself, how is that white people love a multi-billion dollar company with manufacturing plants in China, mass production, and that contributes to global pollution through the manufacture of consumer electronic devices? Simple answer: Apple products tell the world you are creative and unique. They are an exclusive product line only used by every white college student, designer, writer, English teacher, and hipster on the planet. [Might I add Emerging Church Pastors? OK, now I'm meddling]

I'm an old Fellowship groupie but I don't believe we've ever met. I have enjoyed your teaching and when I saw your blog link on John Farkas's new blog I was excited to be able to peek into what you were reading etc... I wasn't expecting to comment but I have to thank you for that hilarious link about white people. I laughed and laughed. I live near San Francisco now and the ethnicity/apple/religion etc.. topics were right on target. Thanks for the laugh!! Bless you-- I hear you're moving to NJ... wish you all His best!

Lisa, not sure if you read all of the entries on the site, but it is worth picking through - I laughed out loud several times. In San Francisco you have certainly seen every thing on this list :)

Reid, just give in and buy a Mac already. You protest too much.
It's kind of like UNC thinking they're the superior basketball program, when they really know that Kansas owns it all. UNC can talk all they want, but only KU boasts the founder of the game, and has three arenas named after former Jayhawks, including UNC's very own Dean Dome. And Chamberlain cancels out any Jordan talk.
So please, Reid, for your own good, quit struggling with your desires, and EAT THE APPLE.

Get behind me Satan...trying to get me to eat the apple.
However, our family will soon buy a new home PC - my final two candidates are the Dell XPS One and iMac. I am not anti Apple - the Monaghans use iTunes and have two iPods.
This post was not my protest by the way...it was an observation that "white people love APPLE" - which I find true.
You crack me up with your delusions about Kansas. Roy Williams left Greg - it is OK, the Jayhawks are still competitive. And Roy got his national title - for the Heels!
