Interestingly, an Anglo-Catholic friend of mine is heralding this move as another victory for "true apostolic Christianity". Apparently, Protestants are losing one of their own and this is further evidence of Protestant illegitimacy. I'm not convinced such is so.

There are those who will claim such things. Whether Noll is on his way back to Rome time will tell. He may well become Catholic, but this says very little about Protestant legitimacy or heresy. Such things are not determined by conversions in either direction - these happen all the time. The issues in the dialogue with Roman Catholics are well known. As for me I have felt the allure of Rome and "one church", but then seen past this mist with the help of many. Geisler and MacKenzie's "Roman Catholics and Evangelicals - Agreements and Differences" helped me quite a bit. Also, my own prolonged e-mail debate with a Catholic thinker in Washington State helped confirm to me why I stand with the reformers. Ad Fontes - to the sources was the call of Calvin and others. I will continue to give heed to the words of the Scriptures, the true source of the apostolic faith and love my Catholic brothers as they hold to traditions created by man.
